LOS ANGELINO ARTIST Patrick Martinez recently uploaded three new additions to his online portfolio of selected works, and that’s excuse enough for me to post about him. Unless you’ve been living behind a blindfold this last year, I’m sure you’ve come across at least one of Martinez’s potent neon sign quotables.
The artist’s bio states that he “focuses on the phenomenology of his surroundings”. Viewing his work, it is unmistakably clear that Martinez is a product of his urban life in inner city LA environments. He’s taken all the trappings of street culture and has transformed them into intelligent, allegorical pieces of art which contain subject matter that is both visually stimulating and morally impactful.
